To the author of this article, the differences between the INCUMBANT TIM DONNELLY and the "johnny come lately" bill jahn are stark. Mr. Donnelly is backed by the leader of the Republicans in the California Assembly Connie Conway and the San Bernardino Republican Central Committee while bill is endoresed by all of the Reblicans on his City Council.
Bill has paid his city manager of 6,000 more than the governor of California (a 50%+ increase the last two years) and has a city with one of the highest unemployment rates in the country, 13.7%. His programs have been great for the rich while the median income of the city is %30,000 compares to the state median average of $58,000. With a record like that, what help could he possibly be to the average citizen in the 33rd Assembly District.

I am still awaiting specifics regarding the platform of Bill Jahn now that his opponents misdeanor is no longer news. I have heard the platitudes.
Does Bill want to decrease the education budget?
Does Bill want to decreases taxes for the rich/business friends?
If Bill wishes to decrese taxes for the rich, what specific programs will he delete?
Does Bill want to reduce the higher pensions of firefighters, city managers, and workers at penal institutions which can rise to over $10,000 a month?
Does Bill want the State of California to reduce payments to counties and cities?
Does Bill want the State of California to reduce highway funds which helped Big Bear Lake with it modernized bridge over the dam?
Does Bill want to reduce the compensation, health benefits, and retirement benefits for Assemblypersons?

With 30 years of experience, I am anxious to hear Bill's map for the future of California. You know something other like it is time "for members of both parties to work together" . . . like the imput Democrats had when Bill was at the helm!!!

Thank you for the opportunity to comment here. First of all, I totally and absolutely support the Spanish-speaking people here in the U.S. I support you and your efforts now, I always have and always will. Like me, all of you are interested in being able to have and care and provide for your families the best way you can. You and I are no different and I truly love all of you. I am a gringo and live in Oklahoma about 100 mi. N. of Dallas near Lake Texoma. It is a rural community and there is a sizable Mexican community here. It is always noticed that relations here among all the citizens of our nationalities have never, in my memory, had one single incident that was negative. I was an eye doctor and I retired to care for a dying wife. I cared for her for 6 years until she passed away in 2009. I have never been politically active and never cared to be. Not until this election. When I saw for myself who was president, Obama, and I saw what he was doing to this country, the racial hatred he has caused among the races, when I saw him burn the constitution and appoint pro-socialist czars to his cabinet and when I saw him pass executive orders so he could have his way and thereby go around congress, when I saw him spent trillions and trillions of dollars on absolutely nothing and send this nation into a debt that we will probably never recover from, I became a Republican and a blogger. When I saw for myself that the president has ignored the basic needs of family and is pro-Muslim and therefore does not worship God, Jesus or the Holy Spirit but rather Allah, I dislike this man and do not trust him. He is a master manipulator and architect of lies. He is arrogant and a narcissist and is utterly anti-American. So, I looked at the candidates who are running. I analyzed who could go toe to toe with Obama and politically murder him. McCain couldn't do it. Clinton could not do it. Obama slaughtered them and found out the hard way that Obama is a master at doing political battle. He is like Hitler in that he is a master at speeches in which he can move millions with his oratory. And, being a master illusionist, he is a weaver of false dreams and smoke and mirror promises he has never kept. But who do the Republicans have who is a good enough debater to annihilate this beast? It is going to take a candidate who is a master at debating, who is NOT politically correct, who is a bully and spoiling for a fight and loves to fight because he never loses? Which candidate is not kind or nice or wonderful or good or respectful or the most religious or the most family oriented or considerate? What candidate is a master at fighting lies and deceit with truth and facts and always for forever winning? There is only one. Gingrich. I do not push a candidate for the sake of pushing him and getting people to vote for him. Never would I do that. I care about one thing and one thing alone...who can defeat Obama? I do not look at baggage. I do not look at the past. I could absolutely care less. I care about who can defeat Obama and sent this nation back the way it was. Gingrich is the only one. He has long had a plan to include the Spanish-speaking persons into this nation and thereby allow them to find work and better their lives and eventually become citizens if that is what they wish. http://www.nola.com/politics/index.ssf/2012/03/newt_gingrich_addresses_hispan.html
The Los Angeles Times ran an article about Gingrich's plan for immigration which conservatives do not like but he defended his plan for the Hispanic community.http://articles.latimes.com/2012/jan/09/nation/la-na-immigration-gingrich-20120109
This man believe in you and he believes in helping the Hispanics accomplish their dreams. There is no doubt about that. The Republican Party does not need a nominee who is Mr. Nice, Mr. Kind or respectful or considerate. We need a political killer, a candidate who is NOT politically correct and who will remove Obama from the White House. Gingrich is the only one who can do that. If Romney is elected, Obama will return for another 4 years and this will give him time to finish this nation off. I do not want to think about that. Obama is a pathological liar and a criminal narcissist who cut his teeth on Saul Alinsky's socialist manifesto while he lived with Bill Ayers, a left wing, anti-American socialist in Chicago. Obama was never a student at any university. That is why there has never been anyone, no student friend, no girl friend, no professor, no person of any type step forward and claim to have known him. Obama was a student mole, a left wing implant. There is so very much wrong with this president that it is impossible to cover them all.
Thank you again for allowing me to comment. I appreciate it. God bless you and your efforts!!!

After reading your words, which reflect much of the personal (off line) feedback I have received on my position that 'should', the Governor's proposed Veto of LB 599 stand, those  that serve on the Nebraska Latino American Commission will be faced with a conundrum;
should us as Commissioners through a lawful and legal manner so stated in our policy and procedures, publicly stand for the sanctity of life and refuse to support the Governor's position that a fetus inherits the title of "ILLEGAL",
or should we, as individuals, with our own opinions and thoughts, rise as one and condemn the actions of our political mentor and renounce such association by refusing to serve this Governor whose politics seem to have clouded his moral compass?

In the 35 years I have been observing the doings and going on's of the once Mexican American Commission, now the NLAC, rarely have I seen an opportunity for the Commission to stand up and be counted on an issue that resonates across cultural, social, economic, spiritual and political lines of everyone in the State!

Here we have a solution that responds to the requirements of mothers, whom for the most part, lack the documentation authorizing their presence within our Nation's borders, to be given the medical and health care necessary to insure a successful full term pregnancy. A solution that is clearly supported by a broad spectrum of Nebraska's religious, social and health care community.

LB 599 has garnered almost half of the registered Republicans in the Unicameral, who have fervently and many have said, bravely championed this bill, with the understanding that political will has no place in a battle against the premature deaths of fetuses. In support of these State Senators, the Omaha World Herald, has clearly editorialized their own backing.

Should I not feel and expect those representing Mexican American and "recien llegados", recently arrived immigrant peoples, to also feel that it is 'una tristeza', it is very sad that the politics of immigration are overriding concerns over the health and welfare of unborn babies?

The position the Nebraska Latino American Commission finds itself in, is very clear to me. I commend the efforts of their Executive Director, Lazaro Spindola, who has proven to be effective in helping to make LB 599 law. If not already having done so, now is the time for the Commissioners themselves to stand up and be counted in a public manner, by personally or as a Commissioner, state their approval of this legislation and press upon the Governor to abide with the wishes of their constituents and fellow Nebraskans that LB 599 be allowed to become law in the State of Nebraska.
