ACTION ALERT: R-Gilbert Senator Andy Biggs should not waste Arizona taxpayer money to help ousted lawmaker Russell Pearce

May 3, 2012 by admin

The economic State of Arizona cannot afford to waste over a quarter of a million dollars on ousted lawmaker Russell Pearce.  Pearce was ousted by the people in his district and it is unreasonable to expect Arizona taxpayers to set up a framework that would give Pearce a payment.  Pearce did not spend any of his own money for the campaign, therefore, Arizona taxpayers should not have to pay this bill either.

Please call Andy Biggs or write him telling him this move is a large government idea imposing additional burdens on Arizona taxpayers.

SOMOS REPUBLICANS is outraged with the hypocrisy of the Indiana Senate Democratic Candidate who voted against our Latino youth via the DREAM ACT vote in 2010.   Joe Donnelly is playing political games with Latino people — a key swing vote in the State of Indiana!

From college students in South Bend, IN, at Notre Dame:

Calling on Joe Donnelly to change his views on immigration policy

by Chris Rhodenbaugh

College Democrats of Notre Dame and the greater South Bend community must work hard to move Joe Donnelly’s position on immigration reform. He voted against the DREAM Act in 2010, and in response to an e-mail I sent to him through the US Conference of Catholic Bishops on immigration reform ….

Phoenix, AZ — SOMOS REPUBLICANS is exposing Democratic Senate Candidate Joe Donnelly of Indiana for not supporting the DREAM Act vote in December 2010. A high percentage of Latinos are members of the Catholic Church and we implore all candidates to learn more regarding the DREAM Act.

Benefits to Our Economy and Tax Burdens Shared

The DREAM Act legislation would encourage a younger group of people that would maintain our labor market needs, as well as help increase the small business ownership that immigrants often bring to our economy. Because higher education is a prerequisite, this group would support themselves in the labor market and avoid a growing dependence on government. We support measures that promote individual responsibility, not government entitlements.

Tax burdens will be shared with the people affected by the DREAM Act, and revenues would increase the tax base for state, federal, and local governments. According to the US Department of Commerce / Economics and Statistics Administration of the US Census Bureau, earnings increase with educational level ‒ and taxes increase when earnings increase. For instance, a single person who graduates with a Bachelor’s degree should make an average annual salary of $60,000.00 which is taxed at approximately $11,194.00 every year (2009 IRS Tax Rate Schedule).

The DREAM Act is Not Amnesty and Does Not Use Taxpayer Dollars

The DREAM Act provides an opportunity for the undocumented immigrant youth to prove themselves worthy to become legal residents and eventually Americans. The DREAM Act is not amnesty because it is earned citizenship that is based upon conditions: maintaining good moral standing combined with hard work. A common misunderstanding is that the DREAM Act uses taxpayer dollars to fund or provide special tuition preferences to the undocumented. The DREAM Act would repeal a 1996 federal law that, in some cases, restricts undocumented people the access to instate tuition reimbursement. In other words, the DREAM Act empowers states to make their own decisions, it does not afford undocumented students special benefits, and we do not support entitlements.

There are multiple studies that point to how parents of DREAM Act students contribute to our overall economy. For instance, a 2007 study by University of Arizona’s Udall Center for Studies in Public Policy found that “the total state tax revenue attributable to immigrant workers was an estimated $2.4 billion (about $860 million for naturalized citizens plus about $1.5 billion for non-citizens). Balanced against incremental fiscal costs of $1.4 billion for education, health care, and law enforcement, immigrants in Arizona generated a net 2004 fiscal contribution of about $940 million toward services such as public safety, libraries, road maintenance, and other areas.” Economist William Ford told the Associated Press that a majority of economists agree that illegal immigrants are a net benefit for the U.S. economy. He calculates that illegal immigrants contributed $428 billion dollars to the nation’s $13.6 trillion gross domestic product in 2006.

The DREAM Act is Compassionate Conservatism

Children should not be punished for the “sins of their fathers.” Some people brought into the country illegally by their caretakers as young children have no idea they are not citizens until later on in life, because they were raised as Americans. Their loyalties are to the United States of America; they speak English well and have assimilated into American culture. Many hardly speak their parents’ language of origin and would not know how to function outside of the USA. This bill would prevent young people in this position who want to get higher education or serve the United States from being deported after receiving an American education.

The National Right to Life President Carol Tobias endorses Mitt Romney who gave his oath to protect a woman’s right to choose

The National Right to Life just made a deal with the devil today when they decided to support a GOP Presidential Candidate who gave his oath to protect a woman’s right to choose on multiple occasions.   Carol Tobias has decided to gamble with life instead of girding up her loins in supporting and possibly submitting a true pro life candidate at the GOP convention.  Let history record what we have been sensing all along — the pro life movement is dying with alleged pro life organizations.

SOMOS REPUBLICANS will take refuge with true pro life leaders albeit within the Catholic Church, the Evangelical Church Leaders, and other Churches who maintain and  stand by both a strong pro life and pro immigrant belief system because one cannot be pro life and anti-immigrant at the same time.

May the Creator take power away from hypocritical leaders and powerful organizations who have been entrusted into being watchmen for life  and give talents, strength and power  to the sleeping giant underneath dressed in humility that have a true passion for life and for fellow human beings.

It is unfortunate for the NLRC to not see the ties Mitt Romney has with John Tanton (John Tanton has strong anti-Catholic views) and his vast network via FAIR and Kris Kobach. We know the the NLRC is aware of Mitt Romney’s endorsement of Kris Kobach and receiving advise from him. More importantly, RomneyCare set up the foundation for ObamaCare which the NLRC claims to be against.

An oath is an oath.

Largest Latino Republican Group Reacts To Rick Santorum Exit

For Immediate Release

11 April 2012

Pueblo, CO –  Now that Rick Santorum has exited the Presidential 2012 GOP Primary election race, we hope to see him support Newt Gingrich who is literally the last Reagan Conservative standing today.   If Rick Santorum truly believes that ObamaCare has hurt the nation — he must stand on his principles and fight Mr. RomneyCare.  It is impossible for Romney to beat Obama since RomneyCare was the foundation of ObamaCare.

Rick must remember that Romney gave his oath to protect a woman’s right to choose and we challenge him to do the right thing and support a candidate that is solidly pro life and will not waiver on government healthcare.

THANK YOU NEBRASKA RIGHT TO LIFE!

On behalf of SOMOS REPUBLICANS leadership and our members -  We are grateful to the Nebraska Right to Life and their leadership to protect prenatal care to all women and children.

We especially want to thank the Right to Life executive director Julie Schmit-Albin for addressing Sens. Tony Fulton, Beau McCoy, Pete Pirsch, Lydia Brasch, Chris Langemeier and Dave Bloomfield — all of whom have received the organization’s endorsement in past or present elections — this: “It is sad and alarming that we have come to this point where some of the major pro-life leaders in the Legislature are choosing to put the illegal immigration issue and who pays for what, over the life and health of babies in the womb.”

Support Republican Richard Morgan for Texas Congressman to Replace Lamar Smith

Morgan Campaign Announces Primary Challenge to 25-Year Incumbent

Posted March 15th, 2012 by & filed under Press Release.

Austin, TX –Software engineer and conservative activist Richard Morgan has filed to run in the Republican primary for the 21st congressional district in Texas.

Morgan’s decision to run came after weeks of meeting with voters and activists in the district and after careful consideration of the major issues affecting District 21 and the country. Of particular concern to Morgan is the incumbent’s terrible record on technology and individual freedom issues.

Lamar Smith, who currently serves as the district’s congressman, recently sponsored two technology bills. One of the bills, known as the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), is intended to massively expand law enforcement’s authority to fight online piracy. The legislation, in its original form, would allow anyone claiming copyright infringement to get a court order requiring content providers to block access to potentially infringing websites. The bill has been widely condemned by the technology community as well as members of both parties and liberty-loving individuals across America.

“SOPA is one of the most dangerous pieces of legislation that’s been written in recent history,” said Morgan. “It’s not just about censorship; it’s about allowing the government to control the internet. Under SOPA, my opponent would make the USA as restrictive as China or Iran when it comes to sharing of information.”

Additionally, many entrepreneurs claim that the increased regulations from SOPA would discourage internet-based companies as well as web hosting providers from operating in the United States. Both existing and start-up companies would feel inclined to move their operations overseas in order to avoid costs imposed by Lamar Smith’s legislation.

“Big-government Republicans like Lamar Smith are the reason the conservative cause has a bad rap. The Republican Party I stand for is the party of limited government interference. As the next Congressman for District 21, I will make it a priority to oppose this bill and other big-government bills that threaten individual liberty and discourage job growth and free enterprise in America,” said Morgan.

Hispanic Republicans to Newt Gingrich:  Stay in the Race

For Immediate release

Pueblo, CO  –  We believe Newt Gingrich should stay in the Republican primary race amidst calls from few Republicans who want him to withdraw.

Why are these few asking Newt Gingrich to withdraw from the race when Ron Paul has the least amount of delegates?  We believe Newt Gingrich is on the right path.  In fact, a poll shows Santorum and Gingrich work better together at blocking and bleeding out Mitt Romney. Somos Republicans never supported RomneyCare modeled after ObamaCare and it is imperative for a true conservative to win the Republican nominee.

Furthermore, both Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum will never be able to receive double digit Latino voting support during the 2012 general elections in our post harsh anti-immigrant law era when several draconian laws were introduced by state Republican legislators since 2010.  Somos Republicans is the largest and was the only Hispanic Republican Grassroots organization in the nation that stood tall and defended Latinos and immigrant rights when Arizona’s Governor signed anti-immigrant SB 1070 bill.

George W. Bush managed to win his presidency when 44% Latinos voted for him, and the Republican Party cannot win a Presidential election without Latino support; therefore, we believe it is imperative for Newt Gingrich to see this primary fight all the way through for the sake of the GOP.

SOMOS REPUBLICANS Blast Colorado Hispanic Republican Chairman regarding Colorado Asset Bill / DREAM Act

For Immediate Release

March 7, 2012

Pueblo, CO  –  SOMOS REPUBLICANS is in full support of the Colorado Asset Bill and the federal DREAM Act.  SOMOS REPUBLICANS — the largest Hispanic Republican grassroots organization that grew exponentially and nationally due to our strong pro immigrant stance is blasting the Colorado Hispanic Republican (CHR)  Chairman today.  We have learned that the Chairman for CHR was on the Mike Rosen Show / 850 KOA AM and he is communicating falsehoods regarding the  the Colorado Asset Bill — Senate Bill 15.    SOMOS REPUBLICANS is in full support of the Colorado Asset Bill and the federal DREAM Act.

We are the largest Hispanic Republican group in the nation with approximately 900 members in the State of Colorado alone.  We believe CHR has significantly less Latino Republican members in their organization because it is a known fact that most Latinos are in support of legal and pro-immigrant friendly policies.   According to a recent story on Latino FOX News and poll, Latinos overwhelmingly support DREAM Act & legal path to citizenship.
SOMOS REPUBLICANS was the only Republican grassroots organization in the nation that took a strong stance against Arizona’s harsh anti-immigrant SB 1070 law, and we will continue to oppose politicians who have supported harsh anti-immigrant laws and their policies moving forward.
