Dear Friend, You’ve probably heard a lot of talk lately about the Republican Convention in Tampa in August. Discussions about delegates to the Convention, in particular, have been especially convoluted because of the media and political establishment’s attempts to prematurely end this primary process.

I’m one of those delegates to the Convention representing the state of Alabama, and I’m proud to be delegate on behalf of Newt’s campaign. Here’s the bottom line: To win the Republican nomination a candidate needs to secure votes from 1,144 delegates, or half of the 2,286 total delegates available. We’re about halfway to that point, so this race is far from over. I’m standing with Newt because I believe he has the right knowledge, experience, and bold leadership skills that will be required to defeat President Obama and enact a solutions-oriented conservative agenda. Between now and the Convention, Newt and his team are reaching out to delegates on an individual basis reminding them that Newt has offered the best case for conservative values throughout this campaign. If no candidate garners 1,144 delegates, anything can happen at the Convention, so Newt’s campaign is laying the ground work ahead of time. To help support this individual delegate outreach strategy, please make a donation today of $25, $50, $100 or whatever you can afford. I’m proud to be a delegate for Newt, and I hope he can count on your support all the way to the Republican Convention in August. Sincerely, Grace Bush P.S. I’m excited to be a delegate for Newt because I believe that Newt is the one candidate who can unite the Republican Party around a vision of bold, conservative solutions. If you agree, then please make a donation today. |
Matriarchy / Latina-led Political Group to Sen. Marco Rubio: Where is your “right” legal immigration plan?

Latina/o group responds to Senator Marco Rubio after he met with valedictorian Daniela Pelaez from Florida who was facing deportation.

Where is Senator Marco Rubio’s “Right” Immigration Plan
Phoenix, AZ — After meeting in person with valedictorian Daniela Pelaez from Florida who was facing deportation, Senator Rubio restated his opposition to the DREAM ACT by saying: “it is the wrong way to do the right thing.”
The Tequila Party Movement calls on Senator Rubio to show us his way of doing the right thing. We want action and not empty words. We ask Senator Rubio to reach out to Senator Menendez who has crafted an immigration plan and roll up his sleeves to work for all American people and in a bi-partisan fashion to give our nation sensible immigration reform that promotes legal migration. Make our country globally competitive for the 21st century and offer an earned path for legalization for the unauthorized residents who have otherwise lived within the law. The time to act is now. We cannot wait after elections. We cannot lose another generation of graduating, talented seniors and let them live without hope in our country which is full of possibilities. It is time to move this policy issue out of the extremist politics which has hijacked CIR for years and instead promote good policy.
We want to see Senator Rubio’s leadership and plan to see his right way of doing the right thing. We note that Senator Rubio’s father, mother and brother entered the United States upon the invitation of a relative, what he has called: “chain migration”. Thereafter, they all enjoyed the benefits of the Cuban Adjustment Act. Today, if a Cuban national crosses the U.S. Mexican border illegally, a year after such entrance pursuant to this generous act, he/she can become a legal permanent resident. Many individuals would call that “amnesty”.
The right thing to do is to support a full legal immigration reform, but due to the lack of leadership at the Hill, we are willing to use stepping stones to accomplish the full enchilada. Typically a President will address a legal immigration reform plan after he is elected into his/her second term (as demonstrated with former President George W. Bush) and we cannot take chances on waiting anymore.

Man With A Gun Part 1: Tim Donnelly Trial Set Two Weeks Before Election
Donnelly gun crime to be on center stage for June Election
(Big Bear, CA) – The saga of Tim Donnelly gun crime continues as today’s court hearing set a trial date of May 22nd, just two weeks prior to the June primary.
That can’t be good news for Donnelly, whose campaign financial backers have already abandoned his re-election effort in the aftermath of Donnelly’s attempt to carry a pistol on a public flight. Donnelly filed with $26,000 in cash on hand and $25,000 in bills.
Nearly half of the newly drawn 33rd Assembly District is new territory for Donnelly, whose introduction through news stories of his detainment could not have been worse.
At the same time, local elected officials are lining up in large numbers behind the campaign of Republican Big Bear Lake Mayor Bill Jahn.
“The contrasts in this race are stark,” said Jahn spokesman Carl Fogliani. “Bill Jahn is a Navy veteran of the legendary SeaBees Construction Battalion, and he is a longtime small business owner and job creator. By contrast, Tim Donnelly has meandered from job to job before scoring just over twenty percent in a crowded primary two years ago. Being an Assembly Member is clearly the best paying and most stable job Tim Donnelly has ever had. Voters will figure this out.”
Bill Jahn and his wife Mary Jo have been married for 25 years and enjoy spending time with their six children and ten grandchildren. Bill has been a leading voice for the Inland Empire as the current President of the Desert/Mountain Division of the California League of Cities, Past President and active member of the SANBAG Desert/Mountain Division and has been elected twice as the District 11 Representative for SCAG to represent the communities of Barstow, Big Bear, Needles, Twenty Nine Palms and Yucca Valley

Mitt Romney, The Unconvincing Convert
Posted by Dan McLaughlin (Diary)
It can be difficult to summarize in one place all of Mitt Romney’s problems as a candidate and as a potential President. I have tried; I wrote, back in 2007, a series so lengthy on Romney’s flaws (some 15,000 words, Part I, II, III, IV & V) that I can’t possibly hope to rewrite the whole thing now, and explained why I preferred McCain to Romney. More recently I focused on the dangers of backing Romney to the integrity of his supporters, the conservative movement’s need to maintain its independence from Romney, and the problems with Romney’s technocratic approach. Let me try to zero in on four of his problems here: the unconvincing nature of his political conversion, the hazards of becoming enamored with candidates whose primary rationale for running is their money, the unprecedented difficulty of winning with a moderate Republican who lacks significant national security credentials as a war hero or other prominent foreign policy figure, and Romney’s vulnerability arising from his dependence on his biography.
I. The Unconvincing Convert

One argument that’s been made in favor of Romney (including by a number of people I respect who are trying to find a way to support him in good faith) is that both the Republican Party and the conservative movement should, and do, welcome converts – and thus, Romney’s history of being on the wrong side of practically every domestic policy issue should not be an obstacle to accepting him into the fold now.
Now, it’s important that we recognize the full scope of what we are dealing with here, because Romney supporters often try to draw false equivalences to other Republicans who have changed positions on issues over the years. You need to examine Romney’s history in this regard in its full detail to appreciate that his record of flip-flops and deviations from conservative and Republican positions is on an order of magnitude beyond anything else out there.
You can start with this DNC oppo video, which despite including a few ticky-tack attacks and ignoring a number of his major flip-flops does a devastatingly effective job of showing how easy it is to dramatize Romney’s dizzying changes of position over the years, and sometimes over as little as a single day: READ FULL STORY HERE.

The Latin Pulse with Regard to Arizona Elections 2012
by Hispanic-Politico on Feb. 28, 2012,
Arizona has been described as one of the most extremist states in the Union. The City of Mesa, Arizona, happens to be a city future where the Mormon Temple is located and Mormons tend to be very organized and they did an effective job mobilizing for Mitt Romney here in our state.
I am aware of several Latino Republicans who switched their affiliation from being a Republican to now as an Independent voter(s). That said Independent voters like myself were unable to vote in the primary elections.
I see a clear problem within the GOP where it appears the evangelicals are distrustful of Romney’s religious and political views. For instance, Hispanic evangelicals appear to be in support of Newt Gingrich, while Caucasian evangelicals and pro life leaders seems to be putting their support behind Rick Santorum. Hispanic evangelicals have communicated to me that if Newt Gingrich does not win the Republican Nominee – they will vote for President Obama in 2012. Similarly from the 2008 elections, we witnessed Republicans who were not so motivated to vote for Sen. John McCain when several GOP leaders stated they ‘would hold their noses and vote’ for him, however, this shows they were not really enthused. I see that sentiment today where Republicans are simply not enthused with the GOP choices being presented today.
GOP Presidential hopefuls are avoiding the large Latin immigrant elephant in the room. They are not speaking the truth with regard to how immigration is directly tied into the economic issue. For instance, under the George W. Bush administration, Republicans spoke positively with regard to the economic contributions immigrants gave to the American economy. Today….we don’t see that because the immigration issue is being used as a political football by the Republican Party due our having a Democratic President. Republicans fear a JFK part deux via Obama because they know how many loyal Latino Democratic voters exists today.
If the Democratic Party applies their 2008 Colorado blue print strategy in Arizona, Arizona could swing towards Obama during 2012. Latino Get Out the Vote organizations like the National Tequila Party Movement will continue to motivate Latinos to be a voice via their vote for the voiceless undocumented. We have spoken to DREAMers who would cut off their right arm to be able to vote. Eligible Latin voters have a responsibility to vote and to vote for the candidate who supports the DREAM Act as well as the CIR efforts. We are tired of lip service and the political football game. We need to see action and Senate pro immigration support from all high Hispanic populated states or these senators and congressmen and women might lose their jobs particularly in the southwestern part of the United States.

FROM NEWS TACO:
CA Apology To Deported Mexican Americans 80 Years Too Late
Too Late
There are many parallels between what’s happening today with regard to immigration in America, and what happened 80 years ago during the Great Depression. The obvious comparisons are the economic downturns and their attendant consequences; 80 years ago the bottom fell out of the economy, and just a couple of years ago the bottom almost completely fell out, again. As a reaction to the crash of the 1930s, a series of stop-gaps were put into place to make sure that it never happened again, The FDIC and a slew of legislative nets were unfurled to save the banks and Wall Street from another precipice.

Tequila Party Slams Sens. John Thrasher, R-St. Augustine; David Simmons, R-Orlando; Garrett Richter, R-Naples, and Andy Gardiner, R-Orlando for voting against the FLORIDA DREAM Act
Phoenix, AZ — The Tequila Party joins the sadness of thousands of Florida students who dream of attending college and live without hope in a country full of possibilities.
Despite the many voices that advocated for passage of two bills that would have given in state tuition to certain nonresident students if certain conditions are met- and another bill that would allow United States citizen children, who have a parent that is undocumented obtain in state tuition- the Florida legislature has voted down these bills.
The bill that would have granted in state tuition for United States citizens who have a parent that is undocumented died in committee last month. Punishing United States Citizen children, for the legal status of their parents is UN -American. Following that tragedy, it was not a surprise that last week, the Florida legislature failed to join other States in granting in state tuition for undocumented students.
As stated by Florida Voices for Immigration Reform in a letter to all Florida legislators:”At least thirteen states have passed similar bills and as are now enjoying the benefits of having additional educational revenues that enables them to hire faculty, fund capacity projects for campus expansion and prepare students to meet the 21st. century workforce demands in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics decreasing the need to hire foreigners from other countries.” These voices, along with university and college presidents, educational associations, business and religious leaders that added their voice to the pleas of students who went to Tallahassee last week with caps - were not heard. The voice of reason did not prevail in the Florida legislature.
The Tequila Party notes with a heavy heart, that the Republicans in the committee where the bill was discussed, with the exception of Anitere Flores, (R), Miami- voted against it. The Tequila Party notes that the bills were introduced by the few Democrats in the State legislature. The Tequila Party feels the pain of the thousands of students in Florida that have had their dreams cut short because of fiscally irresponsible policies pushed by those that advocate “enforcement through attrition” or “self deportation”.
Voting for the measure: Sens. Oscar Braynon, D-Miami; Arthenia Joyner, D-Tampa, and Anitere Flores, R-Miami.
Voting against it: Sens. John Thrasher, R-St. Augustine; David Simmons, R-Orlando; Garrett Richter, R-Naples, and Andy Gardiner, R-Orlando.

Mitt Romney’s Arizona Co-Chair (Sheriff Paul Babeu) Busted in his underwear

From Guest Blogger HISPANIC POLITICO:
Did the Mitt Romney campaign ask Sheriff Paul Babeu to step down from being their Arizona Co-Chair? If so, why? Does the Republican 2012 Candidate — Romney have a problem with Babeu being homosexual or does the Romney campaign have a problem with the claims of Babeu threatening his Mexican immigrant lover? These are questions of inquiring political minds.
We have asked for the U.S. Department of Justice to bring forth an investigation of Sheriff Babeu’s recent activities to determine, if the Sheriff violated any federal laws by allegedly using threats of deportation to silence his ex-lover, Jose, here.
Remember the New York Democratic politician, Anthony Weinder who accidentally posted his unmentionables? Well, new photos are surfacing around Sheriff Babeu.
Name that caption.

We now know why Sheriff Joe Arpaio is scared. Lt. Mike Stauffer has over 13,000 signatures collected on course to collect 30,000!

From guest blogger HISPANIC POLITICO:
I have great news to share with you!
I just left Mike Stauffer’s house who is running against Sheriff Joe Arpaio and WILL replace Arpaio in 2012. We helped the Stauffer campaign fill out thank you cards to folks who signed his petition and we also dropped off some signed petitions we have been circulating to his campaign adviser. The National Tequila Party Movement has circulators who are volunteering and collecting signatures for Mike Stauffer so that we can ensure a good “ousting” of Arpaio the same way we witnessed with regard to the Jerry Lewis Special Elections when moderate Republican beat Russell Pearce during 2011. Mike Stauffer a former Republican and now an Independent candidate is our “Jerry Lewis” who can beat Joe Arpaio in 2012!
We still have to collect signature sheets from the circulators that promised to help us oust Arpaio and we will send those petitions to the Stauffer campaign within the next couple of weeks.
The Stauffer campaign has already collected over 13,000 signatures!!! Mike Stauffer needs approximately 19,000 certified signatures in order to get his name on the ballot. Rest assured — OUR GUY IS GETTING ON THE BALLOT! Be advised that the Mike Stauffer campaign is on track to collect about 30,000+ signatures so they are doing very good!
If you live in Maricopa County and if you want to help us replace Sheriff Joe Arpaio with a good person, then please consider becoming a petition circulator! The National Tequila Party Movement will host a fundraiser in March. Please email me right away if you want to help with the fundraiser or become a circulator. It is our understanding that there are “anti-Arpaio” fundraisers sparking up around the Phoenix area but we are not seeing those folks contribute money to actual candidates who are set to run against Joe Arpaio. We need MIKE STUAFFER for Sheriff fundraisers that will go directly to his campaign so that Arpaio can be replaced. Mike Stuaffer is a candidate who is an Independent that is garnering support from Democrats, Independents, Republicans and Libertarians in the same way Jerry Lewis garnered support when he ran against Russell Pearce in 2011.
Email address is info@nationaltequilapartymovement.com if you want to help with our fundraising so that money can go directly to Mike Stauffer and not to anyone’s pockets or salaries.
MOMENTUM IS ON OUR SIDE!!
