Quashing the rumor mill with regard to Anthony Miller – the first African-American Republican to be District Chair in Arizona

There has been a lot of hoopla for the Republicans within our state of Arizona as it relates to Anthony Miller. From blogs to folks who produce phony and anonymous newsletters…..our intent of this blog is to put the rumors to rest.
Some facts straight from the horse’s mouth:
I was elected Chairman of LD20GOP in November of 2009, to fill the remaining term of the previous Chairman, who had resigned. I was elected by a majority of PCs (83 to 25) in an open election that was well attended. I am including this information so that it is clear that there was nothing scandalous about my election.
After I was elected Chairman I took an oath promising to help all Republican candidates get elected. All District Chairman take a similar oath when they are sworn in to office.
I strongly believe that the role of a District Chairman, the District Party, and Precinct Committeemen is to help get Republicans elected in every office, from Constable and Justice of the Peace to U.S. Senate and Governor. How this is executed looks different before and after the primary election.
Before the primary, all PCs should work to support candidates of their choice. They may choose to support the candidate that most reflects their values, the candidate that they feel is most electable, the “most conservative” candidate, or any Republican candidate for any other reason. This is their opportunity to shape the party.
The role of the District Party before the Primary is to provide all Republican candidates an opportunity to get their message out so they can amass the largest group of supporters among the PCs and the community. The District Party should also focus on local Get out the Vote efforts.
After the Primary, this changes. As a Precinct Committeeman or District Chair, you should support all of the Republican candidates, regardless of who you supported in the Primary. Personally, you win some, you lose some, but now the focus should be on winning all of the races. The alternative is that a Democrat takes the seat, and that’s what we’re trying to avoid.
Now, some facts:
- Like many district chairmen and vice chairman, my day job is with a political campaign. Up until a few days ago I worked on the John McCain campaign. Despite this fact, LD20 hosted both Jim Deakin and J.D. Hayworth at our events. I left it up to the PCs to make up their mind on who to support in the Senate race.
- I recently accepted a new position as State Deputy Director for Victory 2010. The goal of this organization is to ensure Republicans are elected to offices statewide. This goal aligns perfectly with the goal of a District Chair.
- I did make a comment regarding zeroing out the balance of the LD20 account. The comment was made in the context of spending the money before the election, when it would help out the candidates. The plan is to spend LD20 funds on door hangers, signs, and other GOTV type purchases. I am not adopting a “scorched Earth” strategy.
- I have not yet decided whether or not I will seek another term as chairman of LD20, and I have not declared candidacy for State Party Chairman. Any “buzz” or “chatter” on my future plans is pure speculation on the part of others. My focus right now is on November 2 and getting Republicans elected. In the past I have spoken about seeking higher elected office at some point in the future.
- I am not sure what Sandy means when she talks about slavery and the 13th Amendment. PCs in district 20 are not slaves, and I do not have the power to compel anyone to do anything. To compare being asked to drop off literature or make phone calls for John McCain to slavery is so incredibly insulting it’s hard to even muster a response. Additionally, LD20 is not specifically focusing in the U.S. Senate race. I have asked our PCs to focus on the local races such as State Legislature, Constable and JP, and CD-5.
- I’m not sure what constitutes a RINO these days, or who is the ultimate decision maker on who is a RINO and who is not. I don’t particularly care, as I don’t see any value in childish name-calling. I don’t use my position as District Chair to preach about my positions on issues. It’s not part of the role.
Sandra Miller has never a supporter of mine. I’m not sure why that is, as we’ve never discussed it, but she has made her disdain for me perfectly clear.
At our LD20 meeting in March we had an election for two vice chair positions. Sandy was nominated from the floor to run for one of these positions, but she declined. Unfortunately, she has decided that the best way to further her agenda is to send factually incorrect emails around, rather than work for change within the parameters of the process.
I am disappointed by this distraction. Every minute spent responding to conspiracy theories is a minute not spent working for Republican victory in November. But ultimately I felt that it was best that I set the record straight on this topic.
Now, let’s get out there and win some elections!
Thank you for your time.

Virginia’s Attorney General Ken Cucinelli, the14th amendment and the immigration issue…

I would save the Union. I would save it the shortest way under the Constitution. – Abraham Lincoln
The divisive nature of FAIR and their puppets are becoming increasingly noticeable. FAIR is one of the most evil and vile organizations that ever existed in America. Kris Kobach is an extension of FAIR’s legal department and yours truly (Russell Pearce) sought Kris’s legal skill in drafting the infamous SB 1070. FAIR embraces NO legal immigration reform resolve, they embrace planned parenthood, and they support negative population growth.
FAIR does NOT have a “preserve the union” mentality. They are extremely divisive, so much that they would go through all costs to trample on the United States Constitution and their puppets will go as far as mentioning secession. Have these half-wits gone mad?! The first Republican President (Abe Lincoln) is rolling over in his grave right now. Honest Abe gave his life and an oath to preserve the union, and now we are witnessing some Republicans with ugly talk of secession? Hell has officially frozen over folks, and we cannot and we SHOULD NOT embrace politicians who have an agenda to trample on the Constitution of the United States. It’s that simple.
Our party is being hijacked by the Tom Tancredo’s, the JD Hayworth’s, the Kris Kobach’s, and Virginia’s AG Ken Cuccinelli. This is not new news. Have you noticed that FAIR (John Tanton’s group) has attempted to change the United States Constitution before? FAIR/Pete Wilson lost in California with Prop 187. FAIR/Russell Pearce & Jan Brewer lost in Arizona with regard to SB 1070. Now we see sycophants such as Ken Cuccinelli (Virginia Attorney General) attempting to change federal immigration laws while bringing attention to the 14th amendment via the gay issue in an effort to continue this Constitutional crisis.
Republicans need to wake up and stand firm against anyone and any vile thing that is hell bent on changing the Constitution of the United States. Since when did we become the Party of changing our Constitution? Like Abraham Lincoln, we should take an oath to preserve the Union and save it the shortest way via the Constitution, too.
Ken not only has immigration on the brain (see below), but he also has the 14th amendment on the brain, too.
Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, whose lawsuit against health care reform moved forward Monday, has ruled that his state’s law enforcement officials can ask to check the immigration status of anyone they arrest or even stop.
Cuccinelli’s legal opinion, written in response to a conservative state delegate’s request, could expand on a 2008 Virginia law requiring police to check the legal status of anyone taken into custody on suspicion of having committed a crime.
The opinion also explicitly compares standing Virginia law to the pending Arizona immigration law, which some Virginia activists see as a roadmap for their own state policy.
Cuccinelli Dismisses SCOTUS Precedent, Says 14th Amendment Not Designed To Protect Gay People
On Friday, Cuccinelli appeared at Boys State, where a high-school student asked him, “How is that not a violation of the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment?” Cuccinelli responded by suggesting that the amendment was not designed to protect gay people:
“State universities are not free to create any specially protected classes other than those dictated by the General Assembly,” Cuccinelli said. “Your question is, why is that not a violation of the 14th Amendment’s equal protection clause. Frankly, the category of sexual orientation would never have been contemplated by the people who wrote and voted for and passed the 14th Amendment,” he said.
We have a few hijackers within the ranks of our party that are being utilized by FAIR as their puppets in their continued efforts and attempts to changing our Constitution. FAIR would like nothing else but to feed the fuel of any Constitutional Crisis. Wake up folks! Keep a watchful eye on FAIR’s treasonous methods as it relates to preserving the law that binds us all together.
Latino Patriots will never forget September 11…

In remembrance of those who lost their lives and continue to lose their lives overseas….we must never forget 9-11 from our enemies who tried to destroy what we represent — FREEDOM. Yes, there is a clear and ever present danger to believe that there are several who are envious of what we represent and the foundation we stand on….so much that they want us to be destroyed because we represent and we should continue to represent ourselves as that Shining City on a Hill.
Eve Nunez and Jose “Joe” Penalosa – True Hispanic Heroes in the State of Arizona

Thank goodness the Arizona primary elections are over as the anxiety and angst finally comes to a close. Several Latino political friends of mine have worked their fingers to the bone and I know they have worked at least 16 hour days to accomplish things in which they believed in. One friend, Marcos Viveros, kept reminding me that we have justice on our side. I believe him and know deep down it is the truth.
Upon reflection and in working with Arizona political Hispanic Republican candidates such as Eve Nunez and Jose Penalosa, I have discovered that I have the utmost respect for these two fine individuals. It’s hard for me to call a person a hero, but let me tell you that these two people ARE heroes. The hatred and evil in which Arizona Hispanics have seen due to Pearce’s and Brewer’s SB 1070 law will be an era I will never forget, but Hispanic Republican heroes such as Eve Nunez and Jose Penalosa stood their ground while being embroiled within this Arizona immigration battle. They stood their ground because other things mattered to them such as pro life, capitalism, less taxes and strong national defense. Eve and Jose are not one issue Republicans and they became Republicans because they believe in the “soul of the Republican” party. They know that our soul comes from an American great and founder of the Republican party — Abraham Lincoln.
I was looking forward to the GOP primary election results, and despite what several might say and in the midst of this leviathan named SB 1070, Jose and Eve, still took a good chunk of voters who voted for them. Remind yourselves that Jan Brewer and Pearce did a damn good job of painting this horrific law as one that mirrored the Federal immigration law when in fact it violates the United States Constitution.
Did Eve Nunez and Jose Penalosa become populists and sell outs in order to win an election? No, they did not. This is why they will be forever known as true leaders in the state of Arizona who remembered our community.
Thank you Eve and Jose! For holding your ground and for your hard work. This is just the beginning. The darkest hours are behind us and the new dawn is just before us. I pray that your name recognition continues to increase and multiply. You deserve it, and you are true Arizona Hispanic heroes.
Now…..let us rest and relax for a little bit, but then prepare and join forces and help Andrea Garcia retire Russell Pearce — the man who is proud to say that he is the author of SB 1070. The both of you will continue to be Hispanic media darlings for Somos Republicans as you continue to message to our beloved gente that they need to get into that boxing ring with us and knock out our evil opponents who don‘t belong in the Party of Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan. We have the numbers, and we all know that there is strength in numbers.
Love,

PLEASE FORWARD TO ALL OF YOUR CONTACTS:
Below is a live discussion between Somos Republicans’ founder (DeeDee Blase) and the “chair” of ALRA (Jesse Hernandez).
DeeDee clearly uses the latest PEW statistics against Jesse and addresses an issue very near and dear to our hearts.
We hope you see the difference between Jesse and DeeDee. Note that Jesse Hernandez works with David Schweikert, a Republican candidate who was endorsed by Russell Pearce in Arizona. Russell Pearce is proud to say he is the author of SB 1070. Jesse’s group also mentions NLRC and states he works with them because they are in support of Arizona’s heinous immigration bill that demonizes Hispanic immigrants. The SB 1070 law was written by an attorney from FAIR who embraces negative minority population growth, eugenics, and is an organization that is all about placing planned parenthood abortion clinics in heavily populated minority areas. You can see how Jesse and Rios are in support of the SB 1070 immigration Arizona law here.
Enjoy the video! We have 85% of the total Hispanic population agreeing with us, and every single one of you will see organizations like Jesse’s dwindle away as the true Hispanic Republicans work at eliminating restrictionist and isolationist views out of our party and into the “dixiecrat” party.

Re: Republican Primary Debate
Dear Governor Brewer,
There is a growing concern among voters that political leaders too often exaggerate issues and postulate and perpetuate incorrect facts. This harvest of incorrect facts and politics of blame and fear has become news and has divided this great state. As a consequence, media sources are beginning to create “Fact Check” inquiries of each of the candidates who are deemed to be less than honest with the facts they provide to the residents of Arizona.
I have previously asked for an opportunity to debate you on the issue of immigration. The issue of immigration, an issue in which you made it clear you are an expert to the people of Arizona, has been used to distract for the past several months the voters from more important issues facing Arizona like the economy, education, and health care. In the same spirit as my previous invitation, I reach out to you to debate that which you have consistently been stating as your successful record in balancing the budget, restoring our economy, elevating education, and reshaping healthcare.
New economic numbers are to be released this week, so the timing could not be any better. Knowing that you routinely deny these requests as well as debate requests from Terry Goddard, I will make it clear that as a proud Republican I am not afraid to debate the Democratic nominee Mr. Goddard. I ask you to provide the people of Arizona an opportunity to hear the real facts on the important issues facing Arizona.
In the end, you can treat this as an opportunity to get ready and prepare for the debate scheduled with Mr. Goddard on September 1st, assuming of course you win the Republican Primary.
I look forward to hearing from you directly and not through the media as before. We deserve respect and the people of Arizona deserve the opportunity to listen to our political leaders. Thank you and I thank the people of Arizona in being patient with our leaders constantly misleading them this campaign season.
You can reach out to me directly via email or phone.

Hispanic Republicans travel to Maricopa, AZ to debate Republicans and state Senator Russell Pearce. Russell Pearce is responsible for authoring SB 1070, and this is just one part of a series of video clips from that SB 1070 debate here in good ol’ Arizona.
I want to give a special thank you to Joe Penalosa for allowing us to his immigration law handbook as a prop.

JD Hayworth has lost his marbles – thinks confederate flag should be flown.

JD was on an interview this morning on KSAZ-TV (Fox 10 Newsmaker Sunday). During the interivew, JD stated that he supported the flying of the confederate flag. Where did this fruit cake come from? He is truly making Arizona look bad.
Hayworth needs to join and live in David Duke country because we certainly don’t want him here in Arizona. It’s especially sad that yet another Democrat has surpassed him int the polls. When will JD Hayworth get the hint that his political career is over. Hang it up, JD. Go back to being a radio show personality….or do infomercials, or whatever it is that you do. You are an embarrassment to the Republican Party and the State of Arizona.
KSAZ-TV (Fox 10 Newsmaker Sunday): J.D. Hayworth Interview
Points of Interest:
- Hayworth again repeated his false claim that the McCain-Kyl 10-point border security plan doesn’t call for National Guard troops to the border until 2015. In fact, the plan calls for immediate deployment of guard troops.
- As he did on an internet radio interview night, Hayworth reaffirmed his belief that the people of South Carolina should have the right to fly the Confederate flag over their capitol if they chose.
- When the host, John Hook, confronted Hayworth with the FactCheck.org analysis that his ads contained false claims, Hayworth said the site only called his ad false because he was the more conservative candidate in the race, and suggested FactCheck.org be renamed “LeftWing.org.”
- Hayworth is clearly starting to make the level of our spending one of the key themes of his campaign in the closing weeks. During his appearance, Hayworth repeatedly referred to the $16 million dollars the McCain campaign has spent against him.
- When Hook asked Hayworth if he recognized that there were a lot of people in Arizona who had an unfavorable opinion of him, Hayworth said if someone spent $16 million attacking Mother Teresa, people would have doubts about her too.
· Hayworth seems to have firmed up his closing argument, which is pretty much the point we heard in his latest television ad: ‘John McCain is trying to buy this election, and if he succeeds, he will go back and vote for amnesty. I will never vote for amnesty.’ Hayworth summed this up by accusing Senator McCain of “lying and buying” to win the election.
