Somos blogger Lauro Garza speaks in Austin in support of the Dream Act

On behalf of Somos Republicans, Lauro Garza, the Texas state director for Somos Republicans, appeared at a rally for the Dream Act at the federal building in downtown Austin, Texas on November 10, 2010.   Mr. Garza appeared at the behest of the University Leadership Initiative and United We Dream in an effort to impress upon US Senator from Texas, Kay Bailey Hutchison the need for such legislation not only for the benefit of culturally American youth but also for the many benefits that America would enjoy as a result.

Mr. Garza, who is the host of “Conservative Latino Talk Radio“, America’s leading conservative talk show from the Latino perspective, read the Somos Repubicans position paper on the Dream Act and was later interviewed in Spanish by Univision of Austin and The Daily Texan.  In that discussion Mr. Garza defended the Republican Party and insisted that the party is not opposed to immigration and is not racist but infiltrators from FAIR, a racist hate group, have entered the party and are working to change the party’s platform as such.

The Dream Act is good for America.  It is NOT amnesty of any kind and will not cost the taxpayers anything.   But it will provide the Defense department and businesses alike with a valuable resource: motivated and educated recruits.   Supporting the Dream Act is also good for the Republican Party.
