Meet “Quico” Canseco, the man that wants to take back Texas Congressional District 23. According to the Cook Political report, District 23 is among the most hotly contested congressional races in country. Francisco “Quico” is running against Dem. Ciro Rodriguez who took District 23 from Rep. Henry Bonilla. Most people perceive “Quico” as “extremely intelligent, experienced, business man with a godly transparency”. In this border region where Hispanic conservative values are ingrained in the everyday- politics, Republicans wants Mr. Canseco’s polite persona to woo Hispanics to Republican party.
“Quico“ believes that “Conservative values are most important for those who want to see our country change as our founding Fathers wanted. I like to remind people that I do not vote for a candidate because he or she is Hispanic but because of their conservative values.”
Texas’s 23rd Congressional District stretches across the southwestern portion of Texas
along the USA-Mexican border and is the 8th largest congressional district in the country not counting at-large districts. It reaches across the vast rural expanses between El Paso and on the east by San Antonio. Popular Republican Henry Bonilla held this seat from 1993-2007. Second term representative, Democrat Ciro Rodriguez, has the most liberal voting record of any Hispanic in the U.S. House, sticking with Pelosi 98% of the time.
