Phoenix, AZ – California Hispanic Republicans believe Barbara Boxer has offered little with her 28 years in politics in Washington D.C. Boxer claimed to “give a damn” in her 1982 campaign slogan, however, her record seems to show that she would rather put her time in writing novels, and side with environmental groups that kill jobs in California, rather than utilizing her time to help struggling Californians. According to the UCLA Anderson Forecast, California will continue to experience double digit unemployment rates. Jobs are scarce and at an all time low and California families are suffering. We believe Boxer has lost touch with real people, and has neglected the economy and job growth in California.
For example, last year a crisis was occurring in California to the point where actor Paul Rodriguez was forced to create the California Latino Water Coalition. Rodriguez’s family owns farmland in the Central Valley and spent months asking Obama and Democrats for help due to the water shortage that affected large California agricultural communities. The water was shut down and farmers could not tend their fields. Even though Barbara Boxer is the Chairwoman of the Environment and Public Works Committee, the call for help by Latino farmers to save the farmlands went unanswered. This should have been a situation where Boxer could have proved that she “gave a damn,” but she didn’t.
We believe Democrats such as Boxer have repeatedly proven that they are in the business of hindering small business growth by adding more layers of government regulations. Adding more hurdles is detrimental to Hispanic families who tend to thrive and create small businesses. Ignoring business owners and farmers like those in the Central Valley during the water crisis will eventually turn workers into welfare recipients. Hispanic communities do not want this because we are hardworking people, not welfare recipients. Boxer’s environmental leadership and direction does not reflect the entrepreneurial and hard working spirit of our communities across the state and the nation.
We believe Latinos should support Carly Fiorina. Like Ronald Reagan, Carly Fiorina will champion tax cuts that will spur job growth and give incentives to people who want to start businesses of their own. Carly will support small businesses and farmers. We need common sense people who have not lost touch with real people.
